Scholarship Association

Each year HCC awards up to 2 Scholarships to farmers or individuals involved in the welsh beef, sheep and pig industry. These individuals will be required to demonstrate a desire to improve their business by learning from the experiences of farmers in similar situations in other countries. On their return, Scholars will present their findings to farmer groups across Wales in order for the whole Welsh Industry to benefit from their trips.

In recent years the New Zealand ‘easy-to- manage' systems have proved attractive as Welsh farmers face increasing pressure on labour costs and labour availability. Another example of a recent scholarship was to study how the Norwegians process and market sheep meat.

Funding of up to £3,000 per Scholar will be provided to cover costs of travel and accommodation during their trip which can last up to 6 weeks. There is also a very active HCC Scholarship Association whose members can provide invaluable contacts in a number of countries throughout the world. Applications are invited during May and June each year and further details and application forms can be obtained by contacting HCC.
