Farm Facts:

• Approx 600 acres of owned land + 140 acres rented, across 3 holdings
• Mixed farm, 100 acres permanent grazing, 100 acres of arable crops grown for own use.
• 80 suckler herd, 180 stores/finishers
• 1,450 sheep flock, approx 2,000 lambs; scotch mule and Suffolk x mules.
• 400 acres in Tir Cynnal agri-environment scheme.
• Farm involved in the Glastir pilot project.

Bodrida became a demonstration farm in June 2010.

Objectives: 

• Further understand and analyse production costs across the holdings
• Improve the grassland management on recently acquired land
• Further improve the beef enterprise on the farm

Aims: 

• Increase kilos per ewe sold
• Maximise early lamb finishing weights
• Assess the potential impact of Glastir on the farm
• Improve grassland, consider increasing clover usage
• Improve suckler cow production, with a focus on weaning weight
