Farm Facts: 

• 300 acre farm, with 280 acres of permanent grazing with some turnips being grown.
• Beef herd; 70 stabiliser cattle with the majority of the heifers retained for breeding.
• 550 ewe Mule x Texel flock, runs with Suffolk rams.
• Land is predominantly heavy clay
• Works off farm to supplement farm business income.

Bodgaeaf Isaf became a demonstration farm in June 2010.

Objectives: 

• Increase beef herd size, focussing on the stabiliser breed.
• Address compaction issues on the farm.
• Develop alternative income streams on-farm, with a focus on renewable energy

Aims: 

• Improve grazing, increasing the amount of white clover in the sward.
• Carbon footprint evaluation, and ways forward to improve efficiency/reduce footprint
• Establish a sustainable business without SFP.
