HCC supports the teaching of food and provides information on the role of red meat in a balanced diet  and supports the development of valuable life skills for pupils which benefits them in their lives outside school. In addition HCC can offer information on quality and safety, farming methods and HCC's Welsh Lamb and Welsh beef brands.

Current free resources include:

Cool2Cook recipe book - a colourful glossy recipe book. The11 recipes use delicious lean Welsh Lamb and Welsh beef with plenty of fruit and vegetables. The book also contains information on ‘getting ready to cook' covering hygiene and safety issues and a page on ‘getting the balance right' based on The ‘eat well plate'.

Food Race and Balanced plate cd rom - these are 2 activities designed to be used with an interactive whiteboard, and can also be used on an individual PC.

 

Beat the clock - game for KS3 & 4 based on hygiene and safety

 

HCC are one of the partners of meatandeducation.com offering a comprehensive service for food related studies. Secondary teachers receive regular newsletters.

Our education programme also includes - school visits, balanced diet roadshows, teachers workshops and training. We often work in partnership with The Welsh Assembly's ‘Healthy Schools Scheme'.
