HCC aims to improve quality, increase cost effectiveness and add value to red meat products across the whole supply chain in Wales.

There are 4.1 million breeding ewes in Wales, some 30% of the GB flock numbers. Wales also sustains over 300,000 beef females (22% of the GB herd). For more industry statistics click here.

There are four main strands to HCC's Industry Development activities:

1.  Technology Transfer 

Projects aimed at reducing unit cost of production and increasing efficiencies throughout the red meat supply chain; improving flock and herd health in the production sector; and genetic improvement.

2.  Research and Development

Research is ongoing in a number of areas across the supply chain. Click here for more information.

3.  Training

4.  Communication

HCC communicates best practice information through a wealth of publications and farmer meetings, HCC also provides up to date market prices.
